Because it uses CDMA and doesnt have the sim card slot! Is there a way i can make them exchane the ipad here in mexico?¿ Or "broke it without voiding the warranty"..?

Apple has a 14 day return policy that you can use if you are not satisfied with any of their products within that time period. Simply return it for a refund or exchange it for the at&t version. It would be best to do this in person as Apple's contracted phone tech support is rather bad (just like with every other company).

You cannot get a refund or exchange the iPad after the 14 day return policy is up. Apple will only ever try to repair your iPad or replace it with a refurbished model with the exact same specs if you ever encounter any issues.

Apple does have a global warranty but returning a product because 'you dont like it' is not a warranty issue. You will need to return it to a store in the USA.

Breaking something in your iPad intently and claiming warranty would be fraud. Please don't ask for help how to do it or discuss in this forum.

Also if something on your iPad breaks and you ask to fix it in Mexico they will probably not give you a new 3g UMTS/GSM iPad but rather replace it with another CDMA version. They might need to order it from the USA so that fixing might take a long time.

the warranty service is not a product exchange, it's to cover defects. for example, if you buy you buy an iMac, but you realize later that you really wanted an iPod touch, the warranty service has nothing to do with that. Regardless of whether your iMac is damaged, apple is unlikely to replace it with an iPod touch.

the ipad 3g variants are more similar than an iMac and iPod touch, but they are still different products. You won't get them to do what you want, and damaging the thing certainly won't help.

It's sort of like buying a car from a dealer, lets say Toyota, but realizing that you really wanted a different car a few weeks later. What do you do? If you were a normal human being, you would have to sell the car and use the money towards buying the other car. For some reason, you got it in your head that if you just damage the car by driving down the road and throwing it into park, that somehow Toyota will replace your car with a different car of your choosing? Wrong for so many reasons.

Right, damaging it will only cause Apple to repair it or replace the iPad with a refurbished unit with the same exact specs as what you currently have (which is what I previously stated). Even then almost any software issue will be fixed with a simple restore (which they will do in the store) and Apple does not cover hardware damage caused by the user (ie dropping it, getting it wet, hitting it with a hammer, etc.).

More likely, by posting here, Steve Jobs (whom everyone knows frequents NBR Apple forums every third hour on the dot), has sent out a global email to all Apple employees to watch for you in case you come in with a damaged iPad and notify the appropriate authorities. If you ever see someone in the Apple store talking into thin air--that's a FBI agent talking into his invisible mic on the look-out for you!

    Remember...Steve Jobs is watching you!
