I don't have mobileme, and I have the index.html and site folder on my desktop. How do I make it so other people are able to visit it?

You mean just put a regular site up?

Make sure your links from the different pages are set up properly. First, buy a domain or some free hosts will give you a subdomain to use. Get a host, delete any previous files the host put there. Upload index.html, followed by the site folder that is on your desktop. That should be all I think. I haven't done this since I put up my forum a while back.

Then when it's all hosted, go to http://yourwebsite.com/index.html or just http://yourwebsite.com should work.

Some people like to use FTP applications to do this but I'm not one of them.

I make Photoshop desktop wallpapers, I thought it would be cool to make a website. I made one with iweb since I have a mac, and published it to a folder, which is on my desktop along with the site folder. I want anyone to be able to visit it. I have no idea what I am doing.

Well, in order for someone to visit it, you should put it on the web. Just get a free host and do what I mentioned on my previous post. Of course with a free host, there will be ads somewhere on the page but that's the disadvantage of not paying for your own domain and host.

Never tried that one, I always used www.unlimitedmb.com for free hosting. Check it out.

Using that site, I hosted this just to show you how it would look. I used "testingblackmac" as my username. http://testingblackmac.ulmb.com

All that content was put into my 'index.html' as I used no images or other pages.

did they give you an ftp address? normally this is just your domain name.
Unlike T-Q I find ftp to be the easiest way to upload my iweb sites. I can suggest cyberduck, its free and easy to use.
I have never used a free service, always buy my webspace, but then I have a bit more demand and want my own domain name.

Also you may want to download and run the iweb fix for firefox, this is especially important if you have any photo albums in your site.

Once you have your site up I would strongly suggest signing up for google webmaster tools, and submit a sitemap. I use iMap to create mine, and it really helps to get your website properly indexed by google, as iweb sites are not index properly by search engines. Don't worry there super easy to do and only takes a second.
    good luck

Usually.... Login to the FTP server via cyber duck on the website domain - next locate public_html or httpdocs folder, in there, drag over your website files, and this should do it... I hope this helps

Just think of the web server as an external hard drive. To get your files (website) on the drive you need to
    1) get access to the hard drive
    2) drag the files over to the place you want them

    So using cyberduck
try the web address for you site... but drop the www and http.
then enter your user name and pass for your account, hopefully the webhoster should have sent you this info.
    3) once connected locate your public html folder and drag all of the files iweb published into it.
    4) your done

Yeah, but adds pop-up on that.
    I personally recommend:
    zymic.com
    No adds, here's mine:
    emor.zxq.net
it comes with 5 GB of space and bandwidth too,
    EMZ=]

thx everyone for helping, but I just remade it with www.freewebs.com. It has commenting, and I can even ad a basic forum :)

    Updating is also way easier.
