Yet another question for my mac comrades.

I finally found a core 2 all silver macbook pro with apple care at a reasonable price.

    $1400-$1500 Canadian.

1.) is this a good price? (apple care till may 09 comes with box etc.)
2.) Do they come with an hdmi to vga converter or whatever like the regular macbook does?
3.) how do i run diagnostics on this such as battery test HDD test etc. (id like to make sure im not wasting my time because Im going to an Apple store to get it checked out for water damage).

    3) Coconut Battery is a nice little app that gives you info on battery health and such, so you could try that.

If you even think it has water damage, I wouldnt even purchase it. We had a user spill coffee on his MBP and we sent it in to Apple for an estimate, knowing that it wouldn't be covered under warranty. The estimate was over $1300. Of course, my company refused to foot the bill for it, so we've got a useless machine lying around.

Could I make an offer on that machine?

Naw, they wont do anything with them, since they still have value and are covered under warranty (for whatever good that does in this situation). Couple of us have tried to purchase some of the newer machines that were damaged (screen cracks) but they wont sell them to us.

What leads you to be concerned with water damage? Previous owner stated something was spilled on it? All I'm saying is, if you're going to shell out that kind of money for the machine, be prepared to spend more if in fact Apple checks it and finds out that there is water damage.

Oh, Ok, just thought I'd try. :D ;) . Yeah, most if not all companies are like that. Too bad they are still covered.

Yeah I know. I lucked out and was able to buy a 1.83GHz Core Duo 15" MBP from my company. It was pretty banged up; here's a link to the thread if you want to read up

Yeah, I saw that thread, and that's where the idea came up that I might be able to snag one of those from one of the IT companies that associate with us. That was a great deal for the one you got, and glad you were able to pick up one of those in such a good condition for the money.

    Any ideas guys?

I'd buy a MBP for 1300 easily. In a second.
