It's not exactly ridiculous. To answer your question, which regular Macbook White are you comparing with the Black Macbook? Because, there are 2 regular Macbook Whites, except both have either a faster or slower processor. The Black Macbook is also slightly more expensive is because it has more Hard drive capacity( Well, it comes with 160 gig 5400 RPM, not the 120 or 80 gig hard drives). If you look on apple's website, and actually customize the macbooks, they actually even out sometimes. It just depends on what kind of a processor speed you want, the amt of RAM you want, and how much Hard drive space you want with your macbook. Oh, and don't forget the lovely software that is pre-loaded with the Macbook. ^_^
Here's a hyper link down below that gives you the difference.
The only differnce from the Black macbook with the white is probably processor (which white macbook are you talking about) and hard dive...And possibly RAM.

Oh, and for the record, it's slightly more expensive because -
No, they don't even out. At least on this revision of the MBs its a $125 difference; when they first came out, an identically specced white one was $180 cheaper than the black.
The black is more expensive purely because it means that Apple can reap more profits out of it. The people who want black are vain enough to actually pay much more for the black one. You must admit, for all of his shortcomings, Steve Jobs is a marketing genius.
How much more are BLACK macbooks on avereage
