Im currently on a 15.4" MBP with 1440x900 resolution and text looks perfect. Im a little worried that the extreme resolution on the 17" might be too much and text wont be legible.

Im hoping people with experience can chime in with their input.

I am forced to get the 17" new MBP because of the matte option (stupid apple sells the 15" with only a glossy screen), so I will get it but only if the text is legible on websites, etc..

    Thanks for the help!

I actually have a friend with a 15" laptop with a 1920x1200 resolution. Old one.

I was struggling to read text on that one, but mainly because the screen was crap too. I'm more than sure the 17" Macbook Pro will be fine.

It is definitely much much smaller, you have to consider that 133 PPI is much much higher than most displays out there. It will be a noticeable difference between the 15" and 17" displays.

I have no problems with it, especially since most apps are very scalable, but it is easy to adapt to if you aren't used to it already. I have used a 1440x900 17" display and my 1920x1200 MBP display very extensively. That said I would also recommend sticking to the standard display, but to each his/her own.

I definitely recommend using one before you make a large purchase, the 17MBP in stores now has the same res display.

I say it is a very good deal for the 17" model in comparison to other 17" computers out there, 6.6lbs, 8hours battery-life, standard display option that blows others out of the water, all of that takes research folks, I don't think there is any company out there that can come close to meeting those features for that price. They have all been sticking with there glorious plastic for too long.

Just wondering, does anyone have any pictures of the new aluminum unibody Macbook Pro, 17" screen, in the matte option? Perhaps some were on display at Macworld and someone snapped pictures of it? I'm curious as to how they turned out.

    Thanks
