Hey
As you may be able to tell I have been looking for a notebook and really like the Apple macbook but I have a concern that is holding me back from buying one. How does bootcamp and Windows XP run on a Macbook with 2.16GHz and 2GB of Ram. Adding on to that if windows XP runs fine on a Macbook, I'm I able to Download my Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007, and MSN (those 2 most likely being the only programs I would be using on the windows side).
The reason I am asking is I wasnt sure if bootcamp was meant to run on a Macbook Pro with more power then a Macbook with my specs.
Thanks for any help

Windows XP should run just fine on a MacBook with those specifications. Many lesser machines run it with zero problems, so your MacBook will have zero problems. The only thing you might run into is the single mouse button and OS X based keyboard.

thanks, LOL I never knew there was so much stuff into these notebooks until I started looking into one.

Sorry forgot to add this in my last post but, would it be a good idea just to wait the 10 days or whatever it is and get leapord. Or will leapord even come with new macs right when it is releaced. Sorry this will be my first mac if I end up getting it, and am new to the mac seen.

Windows xp runs great on a macbook, it is always very snappy. Specs in my sig. It's worth noting that the current beta of boot camp does not support tap clicking, so you have to use the single button all the time, which is very annoying. I am not sure if leopard's full version of boot camp will fix this.
As for your other question, you can order a mac now and later pay $10 for shipping and handling to apple and they will send you a copy of leopard. Or you can wait, it's really up to you. I would wait since launch is only 9 days away. -
Windows XP runs fine on the MacBook, heck, even the MacBook runs Vista fine with Aero on, provided you add enough RAM.
I don't see why you shouldn't wait the last few days before Leopard is released...however, one advantage of getting a MacBook now instead of at Leopard's launch is that if Leopard is buggy at first, and you can't stand it, then you have the ability to install back Tiger, whereas if you got a MacBook pre-installed with Leopard, you wouldn't have Tiger Install Discs.
Your own choice. Personally, I'd just wait. -
thanks guys, knowing this has pretty much made my order with apple for sure. I will still have to think about the leapord thing. I do like the idea that Sam said and having Tiger if there is bugs.

Sounds good, Stevenson140. Keep us posted!

Well I made the order and here what I am getting:
- Black Macbook 2.16GHz, 2GB Memory, 160GB 5,400RPM, SuperDrive
- iWork preinstalled
- Wireless Mighty Mouse
- Leapord, he said there was 2 ways of getting, one they just put the disk in the box, and the other is its preinstalled. He said he couldnt say which one it would be though.
- LOL some free bag for my Macbook the guy offered me. $45 dollar value
I think thats it, estimated delivery is from the 22nd - 29th.
Just a question am I missing anything that is a must in a Mac or am I pretty good. -
SaferSephiroth The calamity from within
Looks like you are in good shape. Congrats!

Looks good, Stevenson! And the free bag is cool, nice of him to throw it in! Keep us posted on how it goes!

I probably would've taken advantage of .mac for $69, but I'm not sure if you would need it, not everyone does.

hey I got a question and cant seem to find an answer on the forum here and on the apple forum. Here it is:
Has apple taking away the bootcamp beta 1.4 download so I actually have to run leapord when it first comes out. I cant seem to find it if it's still available. -
I've read some reports saying Apple is pulling places to download Boot Camp Beta 1.4, as Leopard is going to be released in a week, and Boot Camp's final version will be there. So yeah, probably Apple's been pulling it off their site.
How does Windows XP run on a Macbook.
