    How do i recover....

    I dont know what happen but my HDD Logo on my deskstop is missing and also on my finder under devices HDD is not there and idisk. how can i recover them?

    The hard disk is not showing it ramdomly disappeared,i put the macbook to sleep then when it wake up it was not there. I tried checking the HDD under sidebar u r showing. thnx!

    Since you ended with "thnx!" my guess is that you got the icons back, but I do not understand what you said.

    no im still trying to figure it ou t :(, before i had the HDD icon on my desktop then i put it to sleep then when i got back it's not there, it's also not on my Finder under devices, i tried doing the pref thing and checked it, and still no luck.

    Try just restarting the computer - You know how things are, electronics are never perfect... :p

    So you've checked the box, and restarted the computer?

    Hm. Try giving Apple a phone call. I think we're all pretty much stuck here.

    Do you have the "Computer" icon in your Finder sidebar? If so, find your Mac HD icon in that folder and drag it onto the desktop. It may be a shortcut, but at least your HD will be there(you can also drag it from the Computer folder into your sidebar to get it to show up there).

    i haev the computer icon but no HDD icon there jsut NETWORK, ok i got it to show i called apple, but another i notice that inside DESKTOP under places, no folders is in it(just empty Desktop)? i think i notice before there's supposed to be some things in there.

    yesh of course apple person told me to type some commands on the terminal

    to put back the missing HDD icon on the desktop type in:

    terminal:

    sudo chflags nohidden /

    then return

    we tried no luck just use that command line.
