    hi, i just got my macbook, and it does moo, so, how do i check what firmware version i am using? is the smc version available through "Software Update" menu?

    The Software Update will take care of everything, so just run that to see what you need.

    While the answer he sought was provided, I just thought I'd chime in that you can find the firmware version in the System Profiler (found in Applications/Utilities or in About This Mac/More Info), what it says next to "Boot ROM Version" is what you seek.
