I'm going to sell my macbook pro on ebay. I want to make sure none of my user settings, files or password are passed to the next user. Is there a way to restore the entire MacOSX back to factory state?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, you can use the original restore CD's that came with your Mac. They will give you an option to completely reformat the HD and reinstall OS X and the bundled applications, bringing it back to its factory state.
