Hey guys I have my mbp connectedo my dell 17" lcd monitor that has a native resoulition of 1280x768. Yet no matter which mode its in (extended or mirror) or if the mbp is closed, i can only select either 800x600 or 1024x768. So how do i get so that i can set the resolution to 1280x768? To i need to install the monitor driver onto my mbp? Help would be appreciated!

So much for getting help, Well i realized that in OS X im able to use the native resolution of the dell, but in Vista im still limited to 800x600, 1024,640 or 1024x768. So any ideas on how to get my dell external display to display 1280x768 in VISTA?

I've heard quite a lot about this issue...and frankly I can't remember the answer to it. I'll wait for some Windows on a Mac users to answer it, as I don't use Windows on my MacBook.

There is a problem with external DVI in vista on the MBP; if you use the VGA adapter instead of the DVI, it will work at all resolutions.

DVI in Vista on the MBP only works on monitors that suppord HDCP.

I do not know if this is an Apple, nVidia, or Microsoft bug.
