I have an Olympus 610uz digital camera that shoots
Videos in HD quality. The videos it produces are really clean and clear
How could I get good audio quality to match without eg. outdoor and wind noise?
Is there any technique, trick, do I need additional gear?
Can imovie take care of this

There really isn't anything in iMovie that can take care of this. You can perform a few tricks such as having two microphones: one to record the audio for the video and another to record ambient noise. You can then perform a subtraction between the two recordings and you should be able to pull just the voices that were recorded with your camera. That is also a little tricky.

A good multi-direction microphone will also help take care of things but your camera may not have a microphone input hence why you may have to record the audio separately with a second device. Also, I have a little trick with my Sony Digital camera. It has two microphones for "stereo" input. I cover them up with scotch tape if I know it is going to be a little breezy. That tends to help reduce wind noise for me though the audio that I record with the video has to be pretty loud (which normally isn't a problem if I am going to a concert). Your mileage may vary with that trick though.
