I downloaded dropbox installer. I installed the program and it is working fine. However I then pulled the installer into the trash but when I try to delete it I get a message that I can't as the file is in use. It is the installer program and the program is installed so I would think I could just trash the installer.

I am running the latest version of the OS on a 2011 MBA.

Secondly I installed a couple programs, like evernote. An icon shows up for it in the launchpad but one doesn't for the dropbox. There is a small icon however on the top toolbar for it. Can I create an icon in the launch pad?

Most of them are DMG files which mount as a drive. Make sure you eject the drive using Finder then delete the DMG file.

For LaunchPad, you can find the DropBox app file and drag it onto LaunchPad to create an icon.
