    I am a windows xp user and am thinking of using os x with macbook. I use these hot keys daily...

    1. alt-tab
    2. windows-minimize
    3. ctrl-n
    4. esc (msn windows close)
    5. ctrl-s

    Does os x use this buttons for those funtions because when I tried one out at a local retailer, none of them worked.

    #1 cmd(little apple button)-tab
    #2 F11 will show desktop. Does not minimize windows but moves them all off the desktop.
    #3 If it is for 'new', cmd-n should work
    #4 cmd-Q quits the current app fully
    #5 cmd-s saves.

    Basically replace the alt/ctrl in windows with command (the apple key). Someone may have a few better answers as I am also still fairly new to Macs, but those I think are all correct.

    apple+~ = switch between windows of open program
    apple+tab = switch between programs
    apple+m = minimize window
    apple+h = hide program
    apple+option+h = hide all other program windows
    apple+w = close open window
    apple+q = close program
    apple+s = save
    apple+n = new... (window, file, etc)
    apple+shift+n = new folder
    apple+spacebar = spotlight in corner
    apple+option+spacebar = big standalone spotlight window
    ctrl+option+apple+8 = screen inversion

    and so on. like said, many shortcuts are the pretty much the same as in windows. To find others, the shortcut is always displayed next to the command in the menu bar. plus you can also view a bunch of shortcuts (and set more) in Keyboard and Mouse settings in system preferences.

    Here is one for you... when your in the finder (say browsing the apps folder) how do you enter a folder without having to click on it?
    As much as I'm enjoying OS X, I kinda miss being able to rely on just the keyboard to do everything like I did in Windows.

    I just thought of another neat thing, not a shortcut per say, but cool none the less. If you hold shift while enacting exposé, it slows down how fast it moves, and if you hold down shift while adjusting the volume, it doesn't do the level beeps.

    How do you tab through dialogue boxes? Or at least have some kind of Alt+Key combination.. I hate having to use the trackpad to say "don't save" when I just want to quit a program.

    Save dialogue boxes:

    Save -> Enter/Return
    Cancel -> Escape
    Don't Save -> Apple+D

    I have a question for msn messenger. When you use it on Windows, once you close the msn, it just goes to the bottom right and if you double click the msn logo it opens with it being on whatever status. Also, you can close each message box by pressing esc.

    How does these two aspects work in mac msn messenger?

    I think most of use avoid anything Microsoft here except Office. :p Microsofts Mac products use the same command like every other program on the mac, if you want to close a window just hit Apple + W
