It's been a while....I got a MB back in the summer and absolutely LOVE it.... I just saw that Apple introduced Core 2 Duo chips in MB & MBP's now? Didn't they always have these?

They're new C2Ds... Penryn is the name. Used to be Merom.

Eh? The Macbooks have been on the Core2 architecture since late 2006. The recent update was to Peryn CPUs.

They're still technically Core 2 Duos, but they're codenamed Penryn. 45-nanometer, other improvements.

    And welcome back chant :).

The newer chips run cooler and faster. There are links here to a very good review over at anandtech. I will come back and edit my post with a link. I bought a Macbook a few days before the new ones came out. I swapped and I'm happier with the new one. 2 gig ram instead of the 1 gig I had. More HDD and faster/cooler running CPU. A win-win-win. The only thing I'm without is the multi-touch. I would have had to up the ante and get a Macbook Pro to get the multi-touch. It's heavier and bigger. I like smaller and lighter.

    Back soon with that link...

    ... here it is
