I bought a 13 inch macbook pro about a month ago and while enjoying my laptop, I heard a very faint tick sound. after a few days the tick sound become more prominent and after reading few complaints about ticking/clicking sound I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with the motion sensor or fan noise problems.

after few weeks gone by and I found out that if you press the bottom side of the laptop it will make a tick sound (is this normal?) I am not sure if this is causing the ticking problem I've been hearing.

so anyone got any thoughts /suggestions.

    Thank you

The cover may not fit perfectly and therefore flex when you press down to type. If you only hear the noise when you're typing and not when your Mac is sitting there idle, then I would just ignore it and not get worked up over it.

I am pretty sure the noise comes when I am using it, then again the noise is very faint and I dont pay attention when its sitting idle.
is there any way to adjust the cover?

    Thanks

You can check to make sure all the screws are tight, don't crank them down just make sure some haven't come lose.

    I was soooo thinking that.
kind of like going to the doctor and saying "when i do this, it hurts"
doctor will tell you, "then don't do it"

LOL you guys are too late I have been pressing it since I found out it make noises. :)
anyway I went to the geniuses yesterday and since I cant really reproduce the "noise" the guy suggested to check it in and they will do an intensive performance test...

@ygohome, I dont think its the motion sensor thing, cause the noise still occurs when its sitting on the table.

Probably the hard drive spinning up and down, and causing the head to park. On some drives, they are quite loud, loud enough to make a "tick" noise.

Which side of the battery cover are you pressing? Don't tell me you're pressing the left side (right if facing up). That's the hard drive, pressing the harddrive hard enough can force the disk head to crash into the disk causing "tick" sounds, eventually causing damage (bad sectors) on your hard drive. Stop pressing it unless you want to have disk errors or worst... a dead drive..
