I'm not sure whats the best way to rip a DVD, but I keep reading about Mac the ripper and Handbreak. I think I understand that you use Mac the ripper to get on the computer first, then handbreak it if I wana get it on my Ipod. (If this isn't right can some clarify it for me please). But through all my searching I can't seem to find links to download these programs to test these out and play with it...so if anyone is kind enough to provide a link much appreciated.

If you use handbrake you don't need to use anything else, you can rip the DVD directly to use with iPhones, iPods and more.

(just a tip when searching for Mac apps, you always get better google results if you type in "Handbrake app" or "handbrake mac app" rather than just the name of the application itself)

I had asked a similar question about a week ago and went with the Handbrake software. It works very well ripping (and can save in multiple formats so you can save in a version that will work on other equipment).

One thing I would suggest is reading the documentation...it isn't a very intuitive program  ...

Another great thing about Handbrake is that is updated often, and it is a very open development situation. Meaning every little issue or change will be mentioned.

Having VLC installed will allow HandBrake to bypass any built in DRM a DVD may have.

Even if you aren't ripping DVDs I highly recommend VLC, it is a great app, and it is very small.

I am having a problem with ripping some DVD's (legally). I own Season 8 Seinfeld and want to rip it to my external hard drive to keep a back up on an external media player. I managed to rip season 1-7 + 9 but am having errors with season 8.

I have tried handbrake, isky dvd, dvd shrink, dvd decrypter and they all show up with errors. You can watch them fine with the apple dvd player, vlc and quicktime but just cant rip them.

    Any ideas?

I had DVDFabdecrypter for Windows. Is there something similar to that for the Mac? Is Handbrake the equivalent?

HandBrake works great for me, and hasn't let me down yet!
