Is it possible to install iPhoto 09 on OSX Tiger or I need to install leopard first?

My father's iMac is on Tiger... when i transfered the pictures to my macbook, it kinda read the photo library (of the iMac) with the iPhoto 09 of my macbook, so now when I try to open iPhoto on the iMac it says it has been used with a more recent version of iPhoto so I need to get this newer version to be able to see the photos again.... i hope it kinda clearly explained.. i need these photos soon...

iLife09 requires Leopard. It's part of its system requirements.

There's no way it makes you open the pictures with iPhoto 09. You can open the pictures with your internet browser, so make sure you're not trying to load some crazy iPhoto 09 format. Just transfer them over as JPG (or whatever they are) and they'll open in 06 easy.

Make sure that they all have a readable file extension that iLife 06 can read, such as .jpg or .jpeg. ;)

You just need to make sure that the pictures you're trying to import into iPhoto are .jpg or something readable by iPhoto 06. You wouldn't want something such as .xyz (not a real extension, but for arguement's sake) that isn't compatible for iPhoto 06. ;)

cuz someone just mentioned 06 as an example of something old... doesnt have to be 06... it should open on anything....

I've never accessed an old library with a new version (probably because I hate iPhoto and dont use it...) so it it somehow changed the format... that could stop it from opening. You might have to open it again from 09 on your machine, and try to export it and re-import it on the other machine....

For now... I know that all my photos are there in the library (they still take the same place on the HD, etc.)... I just can't open it and see em. It's my father's computer and he likes and uses iPhoto... so what I would like is to at least give him back what he had...

The library probably got corrupted somehow, and needs to be rebuilt by the iPhoto version that you have on whichever notebook the pix are on - this may fix your viewing/access problem and doesn't affect the photo files themselves. This rebuilding requirement occurs when you update iP08 to 09, but I believe can also be necessary if one iP version accesses the library of another and writes over something it shouldn't.

So...your photos were originally organised in iPhoto 09? Because you should be able to access all the photos using Finder by exploring the iPhoto photo library folder in ~/Pictures/

No... They were first organised on iPhoto 08 and the OSX Tiger iMac. But since i transfered the pictures from it to my MacBook, its unable to let me see em again, saying that the pictures has been modified with a more recent version so that i need to update to this newer version to see em..

Try right clicking on the iPhoto library in Finder, and then selecting Explore package. You should then be able to browse through all your photos in Finder.
