I have a MBP and just bought a 720p Samsung 22" LCD TV for TV purposes. I want to see how the MBP looks on it so I have it all connected. But, all I can see is my desktop background. What am I missing here?

It looks like you are using your new TV as the extended monitor. You either need to clone both displays or switch the displays around in the display settings. Is there a Function key combination on your MBP keyboard that toggles displays(Fn + one of the F1-F12 keys)?

Yea its like jstn7477 said, you have an extended desktop setup. (having two monitors to work with)
If you want to have the same on both screens, go to System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement, then there should be a check box with clone, or something along those lines.
When you do that both monitors will have the same thing on the screen.
Also there is a shortcut, its fn+f7 (atleast on SR MBP), it should be the one with two boxes, one overlapping the other.
Hope that helps. -
Worked perfectly, thanks! -
No problem, have fun with the new tv : D
