My mbp (about a month old) is having a problem. Today, I left the lid open to charge my ipod and left. When I came back, I found that a message had popped up. It read "You need to restart your computer" or something of the sort. So I restarted it and osx never came up, it just stayed on the gray screen with the apple logo and the little circle icon that shows it is loading. It stayed on this screen for 15-20 min. then I held down the power button and restarted the computer and the same thing happened again. What should I do? I need help!!!

Try some of Apple's Troubleshooting a MB or MBP that won't turn on suggestions.

the computer turns on, it just gets stuck on the loading screen, i've restarted many times and it doesn't get any better
-
Still, did you try Resetting the PRAM, which is #7 in the link above?
-
i didn't know what that was, so i just skipped over it the first time, haha
i just tried it and i still have the same problem unfortunately
should i just bring it to an apple store genius? -
That's a good idea, especially if you've already tried all of those troubleshooting suggestions with no luck. Or you could wait and try some other suggestions from other NBR members. Are you able to Boot from the OSX Installer Disc? You probably have to insert it at the Gray Screen, then Restart and Hold C.

so i did this and at the screen where you have to select a destination volume to install oxx software to, it told me to click the option button because i have a newer version of osx than is on the install disk, so i clicked it and now the colored circle thing has been spinning for 15 minutes, i think its frozen or something

Does anyone have any other ideas?
You should take your computer into an Apple Store. I think they close at 6PM on Sundays, so you may have to wait until tomorrow. Check your local store's hours and maybe call ahead to let them know you're coming. Oh, please let us know what Apple says, the problem and their solution. Good luck! -
Try using the Apple Hardware Test. Boot up the Mac, insert OS X Install Disc 1, restart the computer and hold down the C key.
If not take your Mac to the Apple Store. -
i had the same problem had to reinstall os x

surprise surprise a mac with problems. I would just bring it to a mac store and they will fix it for free if your laptop is under warranty
