I just moved, and am now connected to the internet wireless. For some reason, it seems like everything is slower, and more flakey. Just now, it took me about 10 minutes to connect to this page! (I hope this thread sends off)....Anyways, I'm having most trouble with AIM. For some reason, whenever I talk to ANYONE, i get massive amounts of pop-up error messages saying:

An AIM service error occurred. Error: Serv:RequestTimeout
An AIM service error occurred. Error: Serv:RequestTimeout

It also disconnects me from AIM when someone tries to send me a picture.....

what the hell is goin on here!!

    thx

The first thing that I'd do would be to ping some fairly major servers (google, honda, slashdot) and see what results are returned.

Are you using the same router/ISP as before? Has there been any announced problems or service upgrades? Are there a large number of people using the wireless connection? Is anyone torrenting (this can lead to the problems you describe, especially when uploading content)?

Believe it or not, www.google.com DOESNT EVEN WORK FOR ME.....it says can not find server... go figure. Anyways, using the same ISP, different router but same make/model and there is other one other person using the wireless but only 30 minutes per day.......no one torrenting.

I presume you've done all the regular stuff like reset the router and update the firmware.

Do you notice anything weird in your logs, like Pings of Death?

Have you tried a wired connection to check if it's your router or your ISP?

yeah, ive tried all the resetting methods. Google now works, and my pings are low and normal.... the error messages have stopped but for some reason Im still not able to receive a message in iChat; I can however send one. Weird.

system- no I haven't, but i'm guessing it will fix the problem.
