    Hi Guys,

Quick question. I'm finding myself using Win7 side of my MBP i7 a lot. I can put up with flaky touchpad and cut on battery life, but what worries me is the heat.

Do you think prolonged use of Win7 can damage components of my machine? It never shutdown on me, but it is running some what hot...

    Thoughts?....

Try turning the fan up from the OS X side (I usually leave it at 4200) and reboot into Windows 7. That should help slightly with the heat. However keep in mind that it will always run hotter in Windows 7 for MBP's, especially for the i5 and i7's as you are always using the dedicated GPU.

Oh, I'm fine with it running hotter. As long as I'm not destroying my $2000 toy. Do you think it affects and damages it?

The longer and closer you run it near its max threshold for the CPU (105DegC), the increase in chance that ancillary components might fail.

You may want to consider running a VM in OSX for some things.

I'm not even close. The processor runs at around 120 idle and 140-160 stressed...

    Am I playing with fire...?

You're not even close. It's absolutely fine. If you want, try streamlining your Windows 7 and increasing the fan speed. It might be able to drop it to 140 on load.

But it isn't required. Your temperatures are fine. Can you tell me how hot your GPU gets?
