Has anyone played Modern Warfare 2 on the MBP recently?

I couldn't play MW2 reliably on my notebook before because it only got about 1600 3D06 score and around 20FPS, but even with the integrated in the Mac it gets about 2100. I've seen a lot of videos on Youtube playing this game at 960x600 I think? It looks great. While I have a desktop at home, I loved my old notebook because I could game without bringing the rig (I play WoW mostly...).

I suppose I kind of have the mentality that portable gaming is allowed to suffer graphically -- so I don't mind too much. Anyways, the videos on Youtube seem to have textures on high and render fewer shadows and run at 960x600 (which is very close to the 360 ^_^) but the game seems to run at about 30 FPS! This is great for a Notebook, and I'm sure I will enjoy it.

Does anyone have any testimonials? I'm putting a lot of weight into the look of the MBP vs. the Asus UL series or the phasing Sony SR, both of which get about 3500-3800 3d06. Long term gaming ability doesn't need to be available because I feel the PC gaming market is really plateauing graphically to stay competitive w/ consoles.

Aye, I apologize, I think this thread is bordering on the "What Notebook should I get territory". I'm not quite sure where it should go though, but apologies none the less if a mod finds it to be in the wrong place. As it's an Apple performance question I am assuming it might be ok.

Which Macbook pro you referring to 13 or 15 with discrete graphics. My 15" 9600M Gt can play MW2 just fine.

Oh, the 13" MBP with the Integrated 9400m.

I think the 9600M GT scores better than the two cards I listed above by quite a bit. That MBP 15" is definitely a beast to behold.

Modern Warfare 2 should play pretty well on the 9600m, with normal to low setting should be playable at 1440x900. Definitely the best looking pc game you can run on the mac, looks very nice at native resolution. As for the 9400m probably not playable.

Macbook Pro 13 (9400M) Running Modern Warfare 2 at 960x600 for reference from the opening post. Problem is he's not running fraps or a framerate monitor, so the camera quality is all we have to go off of.

Can anyone provide any better report for multiplayer on the MBP? I'm sure single player will lag a whole lot more due to the fantastic scenery and detailed events. The guy playing this game on his MBP is definitely making me jealous...

I just contacted a friend of mine and let him try it on my Steam account. He can't say he's happy with the performance (30 FPS instead of 60 FPS it usually is on the consoles) but it does work and runs pretty good. The screen being 13.3" the non-HD resolution isn't that big of a deal.

Pssh, you think the MBP 15 is a beast, take a look at the Clevo M980NU. That scores about 13,000 in 3DMark06.

I have to assume he didn't mean it was a beast for gaming, because it's not.

Haha -- Well, I guess my opinion is that if it can run the newest games at mid to high it's pretty powerful no?

I do know of the Class 1 GPUs out there, but it is definitely hard to balance that much power with portability :D. If I could afford it, I'd definitely pick up a Sony Vaio-Z refresh w/ the 330m! I think that should definitely hit about 8k 3D06.
