Hi, I am readying to buy a macbook now, but most of the resellers around me are still selling the one with gma 950, so I guess I'll have to buy it online..

I am just curious if anyone has purchased the new macbook, and how it is.
(Slight improvement in battery life ftw!)

Why not just get it from apple's website? It'd be faster (1-2 days shipping)

As far as I know, there's no aesthetic difference between the old and new macbook, although the new one is 0.2 pound lighter o_O.

That's what I've heard too... I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference. 0.2lbs isn't much :p

    UBC Bookstore, AuroraS?

Oh by the way, have you heard the news? Possible Apple Store opening in Pacific Center by spring 2008!

I still think the Macbook is too heavy for what it is, by about a pound. It weighs almost as much as a Macbook Pro! This is something I felt passionate about because I was tempted to get a MB, but got a MBP for DVI and the weight difference is so minimal.

It's true... the Macbook is somewhat heavy for what it is, but the Macbook Pro is much more expensive. If I could afford a MBP, I would purchase it in a heartbeat!

... maybe in a few years, when I'm a graduate student.

So how much better is the new X3100 compared to the old gma 950?

Also, has anybody seen the MB close to the MBP, the difference is not that big? I also grabbed both to check the difference in weight, well not much of a difference there either!? Both Mac's were sitting side by side in my college bookstore.

Yeah, the difference between the MacBook and MBP aren't that big...the MBP is very thin and sleek and lightweight, so its not that much bigger and heavier compared to the MacBook.

If the user has no use for a dedicated video card, there's no reason to throw away $600 for a notebook with bigger dimension.

Macbook also has better battery life I believe.

That's probably true, seeing how it has an integrated card vs. the MBP's dedicated graphics.

Interesting...thanks for bringing it up, taelrak.

I like the new media controls, but I'd rather Expose and Dashboard stay on the far right side. It'll take some time to adjust to this, when I finally get a new Mac sometime in the future :p.
