I'm sorry, but I was so excited, I just had to share this. :)

So I walked into Best Buy today to buy a new TV for my dorm, and I went over to look at notebooks too, just for the heck of it. I was at the Mac table, and I started flipping through the little price cards on the table, and came across one for the 2.4 Ghz MacBook Pro (unibody, but the one before the most recent refresh- without the SD card reader), and the price tag said $1199. I thought it might have been a mistake, since you can't even get that model that cheap from Apple refurbished ($1350, + tax). So, I asked one of the employees, and sure enough, it was correct, and they had 2 left in stock.

It also happens to be sales tax holiday this weekend in SC, so that, combined with an additional 10% discount I had- I walked out of the store with a brand new unibody MBP for $1080 flat. Not too bad. :)

So as a bit of advice for those who don't know, make sure you flip through those little price tags on the tables, as apparently Best Buy heavily discounts older models.

Congrats on your purchase, I'm glad you made this thread as it lets me share my joy in also getting a MBP this weekend :D

I got the 2.8GHz 15" and it has been running nicely so far. I'm glad to finally have a laptop since I'd spent ages researching and looking for one :D

Many Best Buy stores's do not have Macs at all. My local one only carries iPod/iPhone stuff and some Airport routers... nothing else from Apple.

It's not my first Mac, I previously owned an older 15" MBP, and then a unibody MacBook (which I'm trying to sell right now).

I've definitely been extremely pleased with the upgrade. I think the number one biggest difference I've noticed is the screen- the 15" Pro screen is so much higher quality than the 13" (which is important if you're a web/graphic designer like myself :)).

Hmmm, anyone have any idea why that is? Some have plenty of apple hardware, some just have the basic iphones, ipods and such?

I would have to guess that it's the same reason why some areas have Apple retail stores and other don't- the market. Since Macs are a relatively high-end/expensive product line, Apple and Best Buy want to make sure that the local market can support sales of them.
