197- Apple's next 10.14.5 OS update looks to offer a lot of good stuff for Hackintoshers. Is there an alternative to Clover Bootloader on the horizon?

Interesting, does Hacintosh support RTX series GPUs yet?

Kinda wanna get Mac OS on my Alienware Area-51m. My Macbook Pro 2013 takes awhile to render videos.

Apparently MacOS doesn't even support Pascal GPU's, only Maxwell and before to a limited extent. Apple has a long standing dislike of Nvidia due to problems doing business with Nvidia in the past.

New AMD GPU's are supported by Apple in new OS releases, with Radeon VII's already being installed and tested:

AMD's Radeon VII graphics card can now power Mac computers

"The Radeon VII still isn’t 100% compatible alone on Mojave. I had to use the RX 580 to get 10.14.4 installed and then update to the 10.14.5 beta 2. To my surprise they both work together on Finalcut Pro X and Compressor."

"Funny you ask the picture is an actual HVEC 1080p 60fps 10bit export (1min promotional video). I added sharpening and blur effects to the video a compressor, limiter and eq to the audio along with graphics. My MacBook Pro i7 2016 Radeon 460 Pro rendered the video in 25min. The GODLike rendered it in 6min ! "

AH then I guess I'll stick to the MBP for now. :D

I don't think installing MacOS on my M18xR2 will net much of a performance upgrade over my MBP.

Hopefully Navi will release in a form that can be easily put into the Area-51m GPU form factor, and you could upgrade to a faster GPU later, one that works with Mac OS.

MacOS supports the 9900k/etc so you've got half the compatibility already. :)

Well...the biggest issue will be no wi-fi and no Ethernet since these chipsets ain't supported in MacOS.

Apple needs to refresh their macbook pros with a complete redesign. I was disappointed in the 2018 MBP when compared to my 2013.

Well, a PCIE Wifi can be replaced, and either Wifi or Ethernet can be replaced with a TB3 or USB(2.0,3.0,3.1) dongle, which is what I have had to do in the past running Linux on new hardware to work around non-supported build-in hardware.

UNIX / Linux builds problem solving skills :)

Yes, Apple hit a lull in the available hardware that will support the thin form factor and give more performance.

Hopefully with 7nm AMD CPU / GPU / APU's Apple can expand performance while keeping the slim form factor. Apple's tired of waiting on Intel 10nm, hopefully enough so that AMD gets a new place at the top of Apple's build lists.
