I'm just wondering if this sounds right. I have 70 Gbs left on my 160Gb hard drive. I have 20 Gbs of music, MS word 2004, and Appdelete. Those are the only other things I have put on this computer besides OS X and iLife. I think I should have a bit more than 70 Gbs left... Is this correct? I installed Adobe CS3 and Final Cut Pro but then I attempted to uninstall them and move them to an external drive before I had Appdelete. Is it possible that I just missed a big chunk of those programs? I think I should have more than 70 Gbs left, correct me if I'm wrong though.

you must have CS3 and Final Cut still in your system, because that figures up to about the right amount, if you figure 50gb for Final Cut and CS3. look in your apps and library folders for Final Cut and Adobe stuff, better yet, just search spotlight, i believe it will come up with alot, and if you don't have any luck with that, you can always just backup the computer and restore it to its original configuration, then you know for sure it is all gone, and since you don't have a lot of apps installed it shouldn't be a major problem.

I spotlighted both and deleted the remaining files, that's what puzzled me. I have no idea what is taking up that extra space. I guess I'll just have to restore my system to default settings, I already have all my music backed up so I guess it won't be too much of a pain. I was debating getting a brand new drive with more space for this machine anyway. I'm debating between the 250GB Samsung drive or the 250GB WD drive. I've heard horror stories about WD but I use them in all my PC desktops and I've never had any problems. I haven't heard much at all about Samsung drives. Any suggestions on which one is a better drive. Also, will the discs that came with my MBP allow me to install OS X and iLife on a formatted drive or can they only restore the system on a drive that already has OS X installed?

You heared horror stories about the WD drive? I have only heared horror stories about the Samsung 250gb drive. Some kind of problem with Intel sata controller (which the mac has) see here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=137478

It has benchmarks for both 250gb drives

    Try this:
    http://www.derlien.com/
It is Disk Inventory X and it will give you a graphical view of what it taking up so much space. It is great for this type of problem.

Alright the thing that was taking up the most space was "document" and it was 24.8 GB. Is it safe just to delete this file completely or does it have some meaning?

Documents or document? If it is your documents folder then there will be individual files that you may want to weed through. You can have Disk Inventory show you were the item is in Finder. However, I do not have a single file called document that is anywhere near that large.
