Hey! Got a q I'm hoping someone can address.

I'm in the market for a new notebook for work by the end of Feb... and the macbook is high up on my list because of both its price (very reasonable with the education discount!) and the fact it is only 1" thick (this was a major requirement of mine). The only thing that concerns me a little, and would hold me back, is the integrated GPU and lack of express card (hence inability to use ASUS XG station when launched).

But I've seen videos of it running WoW and couple of other games quite well.... so thought I would ask if anyone has had experience with Guild Wars on the Macbook as this is pretty much the only game I play at the moment. How does it run, like approx FPS? What settings does it run on?

Specs I will be ordering with; 2.0GHz C2D, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm (will install myself). Thanks for any comments :)

It ran fairly well for me under Bootcamp. I can't remember if that was still when I had only 512 or not, but I do remember it ran descent. It wasn't as smooth as my desktop, but it was playable at native res if I remember correctly. It didn't bother me in PVP. I'll say that. BTW I'm on a Core Duo. Have fun!

Nice! That is what I want to hear, thank-you :). By native res you mean 1280 x 800 right?

    Anyone else want to add?

The major question is what the integrated graphics think of GW, but GW has fairly low requirements so I think you'll be fine - you'll probably have to turn some things down/off though graphics-wise.

The rest of it is way over what is needed, so that will not be a problem. My wife runs Guild Wars just fine on an AMD Duron 600MHz with 512MB SDRAM and a GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB, not exactly top of the line stuff.

Native resolution for the Macbook is 1280x800 yes, so that should be what he meant :)

Remember that you will only be able to run the game under Boot Camp, not natively in OS X.

Those integrated chips can surprise you at times. My old Sony T250 has an 855 GME intel and it runs Tomb Raider Legends decently at 640x480.
