    I'm kidding. Don't growl.

I came to ask about Growl, the notification system.

Anyone use it? Thoughts? Likes? Dislikes?

I'd love to use it. I have the beta installed but damned if I can get growlmail to work. Lots of people swear by it, i'm just swearing at it (although its obviously my fault for doing something or other retarded). If anyone has any ideas feel free to make me look like an idiot by correcting my stupidity.

I like Growl. It works automatically with my Adium and Firefox 3. Don't really need it for anything else.

Question about Growl removal: because it installs as something in the Systems Preference pane, can I safely use AppCleaner to remove it?

I believe I tried this once before with no ill issues but not sure if that was the proper way to go about doing this.

(I believe AppCleaner searched out about 7 other related files, sent them all to the Trash Bin, and I couldn't erase them all at once. I had to reboot once and then clear out the Trash.)

I like it. I've got it on a few apps that are handy to have (Especially if I'm watching a movie), but I had to disable it on Transmission. Nothing is more awkward than having it pop up saying "this freaky porn torrent has finished downloading" when somebody walks up and looks over your shoulder.

But with both Auction Hunter and Adium, it is very nice.

I use it for Adium, Firefox, Mail and iTunes. I love it.

Just FYI, if you want to use GrowlMail, get the new beta, the current one doesn't work.

I don't find it useful anymore.

Mail is pretty much a crappy mail app (has issues with gmail for me) so I use the new Entourage which has it's own notifier.

    Adium I don't need it...

ITunes has a notifier from Synergy...

So yeah... rarely use it anymore.

Thanks niemassacre, i'm running the latest beta but for some reason its just not happening for me. Not to bother anyways as my OSX installation is falling to pieces and im gonna do a full format after my exams are over in a few weeks. I'll try again with a fresh Leopard install. Cheers man.
