This seems more like a temporary fix. I'm sure theres alot of "loose" crud inside the mouse that will eventually settle and you'll have to repeat the process.

Only works for so long. :) I use to do this, and yes, it worked, but soon enough the mouse would clog up again. I ended up having to repeat this step every 10 minutes. I ended up finally just opening my mouse, and found a HUGE glob of dirt stuck inside.

how do you open up a mighty mouse?

honestly, I have not had major issues with the wheel getting dirty, any time it has happened, it took like 5 seconds of turning it upside down and rolling around.

this happens on almost all scrollwheels I have used, the scroll wheels on my microsoft mice are really jacked up, and the fix is the same.

i bet the new logitech wheels don't have this problem though.

the thing I really like about the mighty mouse is how easy the wheel is to use as a button. most other mice nowadays don't have a very good way of middle clicking.

Check here. :) The only problem about opening it up is that you are going to have to break through glue to open it up.

that is so odd that it has a little speaker to make scroll ball sounds and side click sounds when it is plugged in, haha, it is so subtle but I guess it is noticeable.

i wonder if there is a way to mess with what that speaker can do? probably not, and I don't know what other function would really be useful.

i actually think this works great, at least for me. altough i have to repeat it every other day. i guess it would work better if i washed my hand before every time i touched the mouse.

I must be having one of those moments  but what is he doing exactly in that video? Turning the mouse upside down and rubbing the trackball on a paper? And that action is cleaning it?

Isn't this "tip" listed in the standard user's manual that comes with every mac?
