What a beautiful machine, thats basically all I can say for now. :p

But I already stumbled into problems, I got several dead pixels, the keyboard isn't put in correct, the touchpad is unclickable at the top half.

And the weirdest thing of all, thumbprints on both of my speakers ***.

Just phoned Apple and their sending me a replacement with priority 1 shipment, best service I have ever encountered so far. :p But maybe its because its the first day of ownership, haha. Who knows. :p

Either way I feel really safe that they offer such service, because usually I always get defect products whether it be a tv, computer screen, game console etc. I just have bad luck.

Have you guys ever heard of people getting replacement machines with defects also? The guy told me he can guarantee that the new machine will be defect free since its priority one.

Maybe a useless post, but I just had to write about the "experience".

The touchpad isn't supposed to be clickable everywhere. It's more clickable closer to the bottom.

Does every unit get checked by QC before it gets shipped out or do units get randomly checked (perhaps to speed up the process)? Is it possible that the dead pixels didn't show up during the QC phase?

the problems may occur during the shiping phase...the shipping employee mays mishandle the boxes, or the boxes may collide with other boxes on the ship...there are many parameters to consider...you can't just blame apple's QC...

Those aren't fingerprints. It's a byproduct of the laser drilling of the speaker grills. It can be cleaned.

Unfortunately, no commercial product is 100% QC'd. That's why manufacturer's have 6 sigma and statistical quality control. Each component as supplied by the manufacturer has to meet extremely high quality standards, but that doesn't stop faulty items from slipping in. Even if the defect rate is only a fraction of a percent that could mean dozens of defects when you multiply that by a thousand much less ten, twenty, or fifty thousand.

The very top of the touchpad is harder to click, but it is click-able.

Mine is unclickable at the top. Either way, the speaker thing could be the byproduct of the laser drilling as you claim, but I also had smudge just under the keyboard, and dead pixels was just the last spike in the coffin for me. I can tolerate the smudge, the touchpad, but dead pixels is a big nono for me.

I adjusted my button. So it's quieter and easier to click. I've seen a lot of people complain about the speaker grills. I have a couple small smudges myself, but I don't see it unless the light is just right. I've been tempted to clean them but just haven't gotten around to it. The dead pixels are unfortunately accepted by people so manufacturers don't mind trying to pass them off as normal. I don't tolerate dead pixels either. The first thing I do when I first boot up a machine is look for dead pixels. So I feel your pain. Good luck on the replacement.
