Good minimum fan speed for SMC fan control?

What minimum fan speeds do you guys suggest running at for a 13" mbp?

 

What ever you want, it's not like you have to run it at a certain speed, most people just use it to adjust the fans how they want when they need to. But I run mine at 4000 rpm.

 

2000 rpm ....

spin them up it if your doing something that keeps making it go up and down a to and you want to keep the temp down... but don't just leave it at a default faster speed all the time.

 

choose whatever rmp u like ( within limits ) , and then check ur temperature readings , if they are fine then stick with this RPM , and if they are not fine u ll need to adjust RPM accordingly ( increase RPM to decrease temp. )

 

I have a really old MacBook Pro whose stability is kinda affected by heat so I bumped up the base fan speed to the maximum speed where I still couldn't hear it which was in the low 3000s.

BUT before you do that on your perfectly fine MBP, ask yourself why do you have to do this? I mean, if the processor is getting taxed, the MBP will eventually catch on and ramp the fan speeds accordingly.

I question the benefits to a computer of ramping up the fan speed just to cool the processor from say 50 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees because firstly, the longevity of the components won't be increased enough to matter, if at all, but the higher fan RPM will definitely wear down the moving, mechanical fan quicker and increase the rate of dust build-up.
