Looking for something like the equivalent of CCleaner for OSX. I mostly want to clear out FireFox's internet files and clean up general un-needed system files.

Also, good utility for viewing temperatures? Something like HW Monitor would be preferable.

Ah, and is there a OnyX type program for Snow Lepoard 10.6.1? I want to change some specific dock settings as well as other system settings like shadows and such.

Why dont you just use Firefox to clear its own contents? The recent versions let you pick what you want to clear out and if you only want to clear the last hour, day, week or all.

For slimming down there are several programs that slim down applications by removing unneeded languages and turning universal binaries into intel only by removing the pcc code.

Xslimmer is the commercial product and the main advantage seems to be that it has a list of programs that will break when slimmed.

Monolingual is the open source alternative but there are others that do the same thing.

I don't need to slim down any programs (i've actually have xslimmer and monolingual installed already ;) ) but I'm looking to clear up not just FireFox's temporary files, but temporary files created by any applications.

For windows, I used CCleaner, that cleaned it up (and was free!), it also let me disable and/or delete various startup things (like programs or updates) from happening, is there something similar where I can disable automatic startup things on OSX?

Here is the beta link for those who are interested, so far, working pretty well for a beta

Thank you, smcFanControl seems like the perfect choice...here's the download link to those that interested as well:

I searched high and low for a good free utility, and I ended up with 4-5 apps that all did PART of what I wanted to do, but most had other overlapping features, which seemed wasteful to me.

Here's the cocktail of apps, and their purposes, that I ended up with:

Onyx - Tweaking features and executing maintenance scripts (the equivalent of defrag and file system optimization in UNIX/Mac OS)
    Link: http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html

TinkerTool - Nice Tweaks and tune-ups to the OS and feature enhancements that don't come with ONYX.

CleanMyMac - Commercial (US$29.95 lifetime license): The best all-in-one Cache Cleaner, Browser Junk Remover, Language Stripper and Universal Binary Optimizer (Strips unneeded PPC or Intel code if you don't use it) and has an awesome "Development Junk" remover that reduces binary sizes by removing developer only code that the programs don't need. There's also a VERY thorough application uninstaller (drag n' drop).

All in All, CleanMyMac has saved me over 3GB of Space in Snow Leopard since I installed it, and I can barely stand Snow Leopard without the tweaks I use in TinkerTool and Onyx (so glad Onyx Beta finally came out for us 10.6 geeks).
