I saw the note in the other thread on late 2008 MBPs getting 8 GB support and thought about upgrading my early 2008 to 6 GB for 4. A stick would cost $110 from Crucial and the upgrade would allow me to comfortably run two VMs at the same time (handy when I have to work remotely).

My MBP is old but it still does everything that I need it to (except run multiple VMs). The ExpressCard SSD is great. The only other thing that would be nice would be a 1 TB disk drive but I am thinking about moving my iTunes stuff off of the MacBook Pro to a desktop with far more space which would free up a ton of space on the MBP. Basically, I'd love a new SB MBP but there's nothing wrong with my old one. I think that Ivy Bridge will give me a strong enough reason to upgrade and hopefully they'll have a new case design that's thinner and lighter by then.

For those that have done the upgrade to 6 GB, are there any downsides or problems?
