The Apple store @ my campus is having a sale on the Macs. They have the MBP matte on sale for $1500. Should I go for it? I've been thinking about switching for a long time cos I've always used windows ever since 3rd grade, but never pulled the trigger cos they're so pricey. I like the glossy screen, but I have weak eyes. I use my laptop a lot on a daily basis. I'm also into photography and do some photo editing as a hobby, nothing serious. The apple site has the Refurb Glossy model for $1449, even cheaper than the ones on sale @ my campus. Should I get the Matte model instead? Good thing about that model is that I can just pick one up tomorrow :D Thanks guys and hopefully I'll get to join Mac soon...

BTW, if I purchase the MBP through the campus apple store, I get a photo printer for free :D

is the one on the campus new? i will certainly get the new one over refurbs.

the matte screen on the macbook pro is outstanding. get the matte for colour accuracy. get the glossy for increased contrast (artificial), it does makes reading text easier in glare-free envuronment.

I think it's unfortunate that most notebook makers no longer offer matte screens as options.

You mention photo editing; I would definitely recommend the matte as I found the glossy screens to artificially alter contrast and colour vibrancy making it near impossible to calibrate screen to print-output. It's super easy and accurate with the matte screen.

Also, when using your machine near windows in the house or outside, you'll appreciate the matte screen even more then. This is coming from someone who's compared both side by side and I just hope that apple continues to offer matte screens in the future.

This is slightly unrelated to the question itself, but what school do you go to? I wish my school had an Apple store.

Get the matte and you'll have far less trouble with light reflections. I've seen the matte MBP screen, and it's very nice.
