As of next year, i will be taking a few courses which require laptops daily. Originally, I was going to get a mbp but knowing that I will be carrying it around, taking it out of the backpack, putting it back in frequently throughout the day, I want something that is portable and comfortable. Both the mbp and mb are good in terms of durability of casing and size. However, does anyone think mb would be a smarter choice since it's 2 inch smaller and easier to carry? The ONE AND ONLY uncomfortable thing is the low resolution screen. I find the mbp's resolution a lot better and the panel seems to be more sharp.

Also, if I was to get any one of those 2, can you recommend me some good sleeves and protection for them. Thank you

Check out the STM Glove. It's good if you plan to carry your laptop around in another back. Here's a review on it.

I would not go with the MacBook over the MacBook Pro for portability alone. It is not that much more portable. If screen res is a big deal to you get the Pro. It is not that much more to carry around.

I really like both the Crumpler School Hymn and the iSkin SOHO. Here is a review of the School Hymn:

I am currently reviewing the SOHO and really like it. The major caveat to both is there cost.

While the Macbook has a smaller screen, keep in mind that it is a little thicker than the Macbook Pro, and it weighs about the same as the standard 15" model. So if portability and ease of carrying is your main concern, then the Macbook may not really be a better option. But keep in mind that university desks are not very big, and the Macbook's smaller footprint will make it easier to leave on a desk. However, I've never seen a 15.4" really have a huge problem in that area either; my 17" by contrast sucks for that.
