Is there a way I can plug in my Nintendo Wii on Imac 24inch screen to play it there. My TV is only a regular old TV thats 17 inches so Mac is a big upgrade to that and I want to know if there is a possible way to "legally" play Wii on it. (use it as if it was a TV monitor)

You may want to look into something called the adaptec gamebridge.
Not sure how if running on a mac would be any different. -

or something similar. That device only has an S-Video port, so you will have to get an S-Video cable for your console. -
Seriously, you can't use iMac monitors as normal PC monitors? It doesn't accept VGA/DVI/HDMI in?

Yes, I am quite aware what an iMac is. I'm merely astounded at the lack of inputs of the monitor. It's supposed to be a desktop, not an oversized laptop.

Apple has never been a company that favors having lots of ports on their computers, so I don't think it's that surprising. There are lots of compromises you make when you get an all-in-one computer, and this is another one, I guess. It does suck though.

Let's say you wanted to connect your $2000 Macbook Pro to your $2000 iMac so that you can use a bigger display, for whatever reason. Yes, people use external monitors with their notebooks. It happens.
Oh wait, you can't.
It's no surprise why Apple has better success in the laptop segment of the market. They gimp users less. -
stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
honestly, ive never thought about an imac having a monitor input. that doesnt make much sense.

I've never need a firewire port on my Macbook Pro and most likely never will. That doesn't change the fact that people do use them. I'm sure there are quite a few iMac users bummed out by the fact that they can't use their 24" 1080p capable iMac display for anything *but* their iMac. This is a more than reasonable use, for example, to connect the 360/PS3 via HDMI to get a 1080p image.
It's a disadvantage of buying an iMac instead of a separate tower and an equitable display (PC or MacPro, whatever), whether or not it's applicable to certain individuals. -
Ichigo you really dont like iMacs.
Its the same thing with the new gateway one, i really doubt that theyll have video inputs.
Theres a always gonna be a downside to ANY pc/mac on the market, and to some people that will have no affect, others it will. -
This, to me, is a rather large oversight/compromise, for the reasons that I have already listed.
And at least let Gateway announce the specifications before making an offhand comment like that... -
According to this article ( http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3981) the Gateway One also lacks any sort of video input. I really don't think it's shocking that these computers lack video input, considering the vast majority of the users will not need to have a separate device input to the screen - I really don't think these products are aimed at people that would need this functionality. Yes, it sucks that they don't offer it, but it doesn't surprise me.
EDIT: Actually, the Gateway One does offer an optional TV Tuner, but you could get a USB one for an iMac, so it's not something you couldn't do with the iMac.
