Ok, so I've been considering purchasing a new MBP (the 2.4Ghz with 256mb video card), but one of my reservations thus far for buying it is that I've heard if I want to do gaming...I'm better off getting a PC laptop with a similar graphics card. I'm interested to hear what you guys think about this issue.

Also, if I want to game on the MBP, does that mean I will definitely have to run boot camp or something and run my games off Vista? If that's the case, why should I still get a MBP?

I'm confused...any information or insight on this would be much appreciated :)

You will need to run boot camp to get the best performance from your graphics card. Personally I think the new MBP hardware is very competitive with just about every PC laptop graphics wise. The new 8600M GT chip is very nice. I was getting 3D Mark 2006 scores close to 3000 with the 2.2ghz 128mb vram MBP.

Personally I got the mac book for the hardware it came with and the design factor. I am dual booting Vista and OSX with boot camp. I don't know which OS I will end up using more, but even still, if I ran Vista all the time I would still thing the MBP has good hardware. Plus the LED LCD is simply amazing!! I don't think I can go back no non LED screens now.

I personally wasn't looking for an all out Gaming Laptop, but wanted one that would play just about everything decently so I got the 2.2ghz with 128 megs, didn't think the extra 500 dollars was worth it to me. So in your case if your really only looking to do gaming you may want to save the money and get an ASUS or something. I paid 1900 for mine (student discount)
