    Hi everyone!

So I'm looking to switch to the 2.4 GHz MacBook or 2.53 GHz MacBook Pro.

I'd really like to go with the MacBook if possible because of it's smaller size, but I'm a bit concerned about its gaming performance. I've seen it run COD4, HL2, BioShock, and Crysis decently. BUT, I'd really like to hear if anyone has had experience running COD5: World at War on it.

    Thanks in advance!

CoD5 is the same as Cod4,so if it runs 4,you will have no problem with 5

It may be the same engine as cod4, but i doubt it will run exactly the same. I'd assume they bumped up the textures and models, and the environment is different now. Jungles with foliage and trees usually take up more resources then a city map.

But yea, itll be similar, but I'd think it may be a bit more intensive then cod4

Bioshock runs fine at default settings, 1280x800. Silent Hunter 4 runs comfortably at 1024x768, medium settings. TF2 of course runs great.

Its running about the same, at least the demo. Maxed out settings, I was running CoD4 at around 50fps and CoD5 is at around 40-45. So there's not a big difference.

Hmm... In terms of sheer gaming performance, the Pro and the non-Pro are two different leagues. If gaming is a priority (why then are you buying mac?!), get the Pro.

Ive been tempted to buy a MBP lately and ive never owned a mac before but after getting a chance to play around with one pretty extensively i have to say i was blow away . The Screen is just amazing to say the least and the backlit keyboard ,the weight of the machine, slot loading dvd , theres just so many nice features the only problem im having is i would want it purely for gaming and running windows for games and possibly exploring other features of OSX that i have never used . Overall though im not sure its the best investment for what i have in mind.

    Thank for the input everyone!

I agree, and especially for the 9800 you are running. However, I think when you move down to a 9400 the difference will be more apparent - and I'm trying to find out what that difference is.

Like Quadzilla, I've been drawn to the Mac by qualities that are difficult to quantify. The build quality, the screen, the backlit keyboard ann all that - have created a computing experience that the PC world has rarely been able to match.

When I checked out the MacBook in person, my top contenders at the time - the Asus F6v with the HD3470 and the F8 with the HD3650 - were soundly defeated. Trust me, I really didn't want to stop using Asus laptops. I don't think any other manufacturer has done such a great job at hitting that price-performance-portability-aesthetics sweetspot, and their service (atleast in Taiwan) is just INCREDIBLE. But, the edge Apple has in the overall computing experience is so great it has me shopping more with my emotions and less with my brain... and hell, the brain loses this time.

I ran Crysis Warhead with all settings at minimal, ran smoothly although I notice that there is more heat than when I ran COD4 (which is not ran at minimal settings).
