    Gaming Vs Graphic Design

    A couple days ago i was set on getting a HP dv9500t. So naturally i was posting on the hp forums asking questions. One of the things that came up was having a higher resolution native when games dont handle that much dont run as well or eat up the video card. I play World of Warcraft and my friends previous gen Macbook Pro run it really well. My concern is I need the High Resolution screen for Graphic Desiging, but will this cause me to get less FPS in game? I dont know the highest resolution I can recieve in Wow becauses its different for widescreens, but i believe its less then 1400. Any comments? Oh and anybody know of a good case for 17' macbook pro?

    You can always lower the in game resolution for the game you are playing if it doesn't perform well at native resolution.

    Yeah, as usapatriot says, playing at lower res's (especially with a display with a very high native res) is perfectly normal.

    The only downside is usually that at lower res's, the image will be somewhat "fuzzier", but with most games this isn't that noticeable (and sometimes even makes things seem smoother).

    interpolation is usually a very bad thing. you can run a game in 1280x800 pixels or whatever and have it enlarge the image to fit all 1440x900 pixels in a macbook pro, without aspect ratio distortion. but obviously, some pixels will have to be represented with multiple pixels, while others will not be... it makes for a blurry image.

    but-

    if you have a VERY high resolution screen compared to the resolution you are running a game in- say- 1920x1200 and running the game in 1280x800 - the effect will be minimal. it will look very close to a normal 1280x800 monitor.
