When looking at MAC specific software, will only software designated OS X be playable on the new MBP? I notice some says only OS 8 and below, but a lot says just Macintosh, so I'm curious if it would be playable on the new OS?

OS 8 software will not work on Intel Macs because the Intel version of OS X lacks the Classic compatibility layer for running pre-OS X software.

What games are you looking for though? Quite a few pre-OS X games such as Starcraft and Diablo II have patches that allow them to run in OS X.

Starcraft would be one, probably some of the older ADD RPGs. But my main question is whether software has to actually say OS X to work with a new Mac (without patching) ...
