    Hi everybody,

I was wondering if there are any great games that I can play in OS X?

I don't have Win7 installed in a separate partition, and in Paralles I can barely play anything. I do have a desktop PC with a 2.8Ghz Quad and a 500$ Nvidia card that plays mostly anything, but that's not very portable, you can imagine.

So, I plan spending like a couple hours per week gaming, I do not play much and I think it sucks booting into Windows for 20 minutes gaming just to boot back into Mac OSX .... Besides, I hope I don't have to explain myself too much why I stay in OSX .. hopefully not on this forum..

I am mostly looking for action games or cars/simulations. Maybe some strategy games (tried Age of Empires III and it sucks, graphics are like 640x480 with bunch of errors, and the update didn't see the original game installed (demo)).

    Edit: I have a MBP 2.66Ghz, Nvidia 9600GT 256MB.

    Thanks.

Honestly I would avoid all mac games. I know some will disagree here. The lack patch support, optimization, online players, decent controls, etc. Just spend the 2 minutes and use bootcamp just for games.

join up at the Porting Team... link in my sig, and go to the Forums. Its mainly a Mac gaming community, focusing on playing games on Macs that weren't ever designed to play on Macs... without using Windows.

I also started an open source project called Wineskin... link in my sig, for making home-made ports of Windows games to Macs, though it can be a bit technical to use. But people make and share wrappers they get working... still rather new, but its getting better all the time.

I'd also look at buying Crossover Games.

of course most every way of running Windows games on Macs use Wine, which is still a work in progress, so it cannot run everything yet, or run everything perfectly, so don't expect every game to work. Basically if you want to play all the newest games as soon as their released, you usually are just going to have to run Windows in a dual boot.

There are a few already available.
    • COD Modern Warfare
    • NFS Carbon
    • Steam - Its coming!
    • Dragon Age: Origins

But I personally boot in Windows. Currently, I'm playing Assassin's Creed 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction. :p

Plus pretty much all Blizzard games are both Mac/PC these days. From what i've seen they run fairly close performance wise to PC equivalent.
