    Hi , just curious would it be possible to replace a MBP 15 2011 GPU from 6750 to 6990 ???

    If you have to ask the question.. you probably cannot do it. Its technically not possible from a normal stand point, unless you are very very very good and have the right equipment...

    Even if you could make the physical change, the internal cooling system and power supply would not be adequate for such a powerhouse GPU.

    a proper change would include that... I doubt they are pin to pin compatible either.. it would take a LOT of work, but theoretically it can be done.

    Theoretically, anything can be done. All of your atoms might line up the right way and enable you to walk through a wall by chance.

    There's a point where something is impractical enough that it's ok if you just say it's not possible.

    Considering user-replaceable GPUs are found only on a very small percentage of notebooks, I'd say your dreams are better invested elsewhere. :eek:

    Apple does not use modular GPUs. It's soldered onto the motherboard = no upgrade.

    my school is switching to macs for the next incoming class, i keep telling them you are getting soldered components you will not be able to do inhouse repairs and if you must go mac at least do macbook pros.
