    Hi,

Does anyone know by any chance where I could get a G5 case? I need it for modding (personal project). I have been checking ebay for a while, but there's pretty much nothing - just G4s.

    Thanks,
    rad

I've seen a few on eBay before, but they aren't on there all the time.

I might end up selling my dead G5 on eBay in a few weeks.

They are probably going to be hard to come by. I would imagine most are still in service and running well. Even then you may pay a fair amount for one since I doubt they will be selling just the case, but all the parts inside that are still usable as well. You could try out lowendmac.com, they have used Macs on there. Why not just get one of the generic clone cases? They look very similar and are going to be much easier to find, and probably cheaper.

Lian-Li made the G5 cases and do have similar models but Lian-Li is seriously expensive at the best of times. That don't sell exact G5 cases or parts becuase it was a propritory contract.

The few times I've seen them for sale on eBay, they usually fetch over $200.

    Not cheap cases.

you should be able to find one on ebay, just keep in mind it will be a lot of work to get working properly, maybe even an entirely new rear panel.

i have never seen a G5 PC modded case that really looked very good, they always end up hacked up way to much, I don't think there is any case that can compare to Apple's g5 and mac pro cases, not even close, and hacking them up kind of ruins the point, if I wanted a PC in a case like that i would just buy a Mac Pro.
