Hi, I decided to get a Mac but since I'm not sure I might like the experience; I at first decided to get a imac g3 but as I would like to play with leopard too I set my eyes on the g4 cube as a like the design of the thing and there are some interesting hacks for it :D ... Is there anything I need to now before making my purchase?

I don't think a G4 cube has the power to run Leopard out of the box... You need an 867MHz processor or faster to install it without tricks.

It'll install, but it just won't be quick.

The G4 Cube was a disaster for Apple. The machine vented off hot air from the top, meaning people could not put anything on top of it. The casing also tended to crack quite frequently, and the hard drive that come with it natively is loud, as is the graphics card.

Also, due to the strange design, things often went wrong with the cube. For example, if you bump it in the correct location, the cube would shut down and not turn back on. This is of course easily solved by pulling out the insides of the machine out of its backside, literally, but that is not something one should be expecting to do with a computer.

What is your budget? Surely you can afford a G4 Mac Mini or a Core Duo Mac Mini? You can purchase one second hand for like $300-400 (G4 model), as they are also quite unpopular.

get a mac mini. they are cheap and will serve you much better than a g4 system. go with intel, the cheapest you can find.

Ouch how serious were those issues?... But for that price range of the mini I might a well get a new one ^^"... Anyway like I said I just want something to play around with and seeing that they go 50-200$ on ebay, I thought it would be a good idea.... Or should I get a powermac g4 as they go for the same price range(Yeah I know, I'm cheap..)
