I just recently made the transition from Outlook 2003 to mail.app, and it was seamless using Outlook2Mac.

But a friend is going the exact reverse route, and while he was able to transfer his Address Book to Outlook Contacts and his iCal to Outlook Calendar, he has had no success with transfering 2 or 3 years worth of e-mail from mail.app to Outlook Mail.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this?

In mail.app, use Edit > Select All to select all messages in a folder, then use File > Save As to save the messages in "Raw Message Source" format. This will give you a .mbox file.

Outlook cant import them straight but this way explained here should work:

bit complicated but you only have to do it once.
