My friend is having issues with her 13 inch macbook pro she bought about a year and a half ago. the computer works fine and on first glance everything seems to work fine.

However when she tries to open any applications it just lags then eventually gives up (this includes the finder)

She told me she tried turning the wifi on and off and it takes about 3 minutes each time.

My guess is that for some reason something is eating up all of her RAM and using up a huge amount of her CPU. Any ideas?

Can you get into terminal command prompt? Type...

    top

Or what does activity monitor say, if it can be launched.

sounds more like something just screwed up the OS... might need to do a re-install.
