I'm going to end up getting FinalCut sooner or later, but for now, I was wondering if there's any free video editor for Mac out there? This might be a bit tough since I couldn't find anything on google at all, except jahshaka, which imho, I don't think is very good....

uhh yeah. imovie isn't exactly free, but you pay for it with the computer, and it is good.

if you have imovie 08, you might want to try imovie 06, which is a free download from apple (for owner's of 08).

i recommend that for a variety of reasons, mostly due to the fact that a lot of functionality was cut from imovie 06 --> 08. you can ask more about it if you want to know.

Well, for some reason, the Macbook I use didn't come with iLife. But then again, it isn't exactly the newest Macbook around...

Hmmmm... Somebody mentioned above that iMovie06 is a free download. Go grab it. Well, I went to Apple and while I didn't find iMovie06, I did find iMovie v 3 is freeware.

Still, any MacBook would have come with iLife, whether it was iLife '08 or '06. Was it second-hand? If so, check with the original owner for the iLife disc.

my macbook (a 2nd gen, first one with a c2d) came with it as well as tiger.
if you have updated to leopard then by means of a fresh install you will lose it unless you back it up before the install.

try installing iLife from the backup disks. I know my "open box" MBP didn't come preinstalled with iLife but I found it on the second disk I believe and it's easy to install. Somebody probably just forgot the install it after a system restore (which will restore the system but without ilife/imovie etc).
