How much did u get ur macbook pro 15.4" for? I would like to know the price (after tax) and the warrenty status, issit really world wide. Here(Germany), even with a student discount, i can only get the MacbookPro 15" 2.33ghz version(without configuration) for $2842(due to very high tax).

My question is the price and how would the warrenty be. If it's worth it, then maybe i ll do a trip to New York to get it(dont count my flight ticket fee, think it as sight seeing).Thanx!

It just depends where you live in the US. Some states have sales tax, while some do not.

For online orders, you only get charged sales tax if they have a distribution center in that state.
If apple had a distribution state in Virignia (where I live) I would be charged sales tax. Since they do not, I don't get charged the tax.
Or mabye I did pay tax and I don't remember paying it. Ah well, it's only 4.5% for none food items in Virginia...

Cool, then that would mean that i could save up to 300euros or more. Just hope they cover the warranty even until here in germany. 1 year global isnt it?

Actually i dint save anything coz the flight here to US would cost me 400€, but then, i love to travel.

Yes, the warranty will be valid in Germany also.

And the americans are lucky, even the states with the highest sales tax are nothing compared to what we europeans have I think (25% in Sweden, I think the irish have around 20 or something (I've lived here for a year now and haven't figured it out yet - doesn't really matter since it's all calculated in the prices anyway) and the brits 17.5 for example).I could be mistaken, but all the sales tax stuff I see from the US seems to be under 10% at least.

And look at it this way: you pay the same as what you would in Germany but you get a trip to the states for 100 euro :D

Keep in mind though that you will get an american keyboard, I know you germans have the y and z interchanged on yours - it won't matter since you can just set the keyboard to act as a german one of course, but it will look strange to you :)

Nah, it's fine with me, as a matter a fact, i like the us keyboard than the german one, even if i plan to buy it here, i would change the software and keyboard into english layout. Then thanx again to all of u!

Heh, you guys have health care provided by teh state. I don't have any health care at all. So if I get sick or hurt, I'll have to spend thousands if I have to go to the hospital.

Generally sales tax is under 10%. Virginia has 2 forms of sales tax. One for regular stuff, but it's like, 11% for anything thats a food item. Which really sucks.
