If anyone is trying to download ios5 via itunes, it can be very slow, mine said +10 hours, so here's a link to download it faster (1.5 hrs).
iTunes iOS 5 Download Running Slow? Try These Direct iOS 5 Links Instead!

Im pretty sure its legit, its the same size, and has a lot of great comments.
To install, press shift at the iphone window in tunes and click update with ios 5 apparently. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

hmmm is there a way to getremove iOS 5? I really like pinch to zoom in safari... unless someone knows how to get it to work... wow, I've already had more trouble with iOS 5 in the last 2 hours as I did for the 2.5years I used win vista... not impressed Apple expected better.

    that's what she said!

ok. i had to do that, perfect opportunity.

I'm having the same issue with the ios download over quick cable. I'm not sure about installing another non-apple os. Does the 'shift' key thing work?

The shift key process will work though I highly recommend downloading iOS from Apple themselves by going through iTunes. Their servers were hammered last night but at least you know you are getting a valid iOS file. The one in this link might be valid too but you never know what people people are doing to software packages before they upload them. I remember downloading iOS 2 back in the day from a 3rd party website (since Apple wanted me to pay for the update for my 1G iPod touch) and it wasn't right. It didn't ruin my iPod or anything but it also wasn't iOS 2.

iTunes was initially reporting a 5 hour download time for me but it took about 2 hours in total so it wasn't too bad. I remember iOS 4 taking about the same amount of time back on the first day of its release. I updated my iPod touch this morning to iOS 5 and that was about the same size as iOS 5 for my iPad 2 yet the download went through in an hour so it appears that Apple's servers are recovering.

any one know how to go back to iOS 4.3.5? iOS 5 is crap... no pinch to zoom in safari, double clicking disables zoom... agh!

Really? Something's amiss there I think. Is this on an iPhone?

iOS5 is running great on my iP4, pinch and zoom and double clicking are the same as before.

Only issues I've encountered so far are all iCLoud email related but I think I'm not the only one experiencing those.

I have iOS 5 up and running on both my iPad 2 and 4G iPod touch, pinch to zoom (along with double-tapping) still works fine in Safari and any other app that supports it. In fact, I don't think that aspect has changed at all with iOS 5 so I am not sure why anyone would be having that issue (unless they downloaded iOS 5 from an unofficial source and/or something went wrong during the installation).

The only negative aspect I have experienced so far with iOS 5 isn't directly related to the update but rather the recent update to Notes Plus (which was done for iOS 5) has made the software unusable. My only real complaint about iOS 5 is the lack of Siri for the iPad 2. Come on, it is more powerful than the iPhone 4s. Why can't it be part of the Siri beta testing too?

There's some indication that some multitouch features no longer work on the iPad1. Everything works fine on the iPad2 though.

I think then only multitouch features not working were the ones that were hacked in from a dev build. The ones currently on the Ipad2 (4/5 finger switch apps). Why Apple removed them, I dunno.

Apple removed them because they want you to buy an iPad 2.

I had no issues yesterday. It took about 30 minutes.

Any ideas when the music cloud will go live? If it is soon, I can get a 16gb instead of a 32gb 4S.

iTunes Match is supposed to launch by the end of October. Just keep in mind that any streaming will eat through your phone's data plan. That won't go very far if you are on a 2GB/month plan especially since all of the songs (if they are also found in the iTunes Store) are encoded at the same 256kbps standard as the music purchased through the store.

Fortunately I have unlimited data, I have been waiting for the cloud so I could finally start using it (previously all my bills had only had about 400mb of data download, so i was really wasting $5/month). Still I probably won't use much more data, I am almost always in a wifi area.

Indeed, the grandfathered unlimited data plan is one of the main reasons I stick with AT&T (that and being able to call and use the phone at the same time, but that reason will no longer be valid when the iPhone 5 comes out presumably).

I doubt I'd be somewhere without wifi for long anyway.

It has to do with frequencies used, and how the voice/data is encoded. In theory, you can do LTE+Voice at the same time, but I dunno.
