I made changes to the Folders View and Options (right click -> View Options) as follow:

    - Grid Spacing
    - Icon size
    - List View sorting (Kind type)

However, these changes only applies to individual folders and not universal. I.e. if I made the change in the "Download" folder, it doesn't change it in the "Public" folder.

Moreover, the List View sorting doesn't stay.

Anyway I can do the 2 thing above?

Isn't there a "Use as Defaults" button? It doesn't appear when you Cmd+j on the desktop, but it's there when you Cmd+j a Finder window.

Correct, there is a defaults button. That solve one of the dilemma. How about keeping the "sort" function intact?
